Kenpong Football Academy’s European Tour Highlights Growth and Ambition

Kenpong Football Academy has firmly established itself as one of Ghana’s leading institutions for developing young football talent. This reputation was further reinforced during a recent training tour in Europe, where the Academy’s Under-18 team showcased its capabilities on an international stage.

The squad faced off against some of Belgium’s top youth teams in a series of friendly matches. They secured a 3-1 victory over Club Brugge’s U-18 team, earned a 1-1 draw with KV Mechelen, and narrowly lost to KRC Genk with a score of 3-1. These results not only demonstrated the players’ technical skills but also their resilience and adaptability under pressure.

For the Academy’s founder and benefactor, Kennedy Agyapong, known as Kenpong, these outcomes were more than just wins and losses. They represented the Academy’s growing influence and its ability to compete with some of Europe’s most respected youth programs. In an interview following the tour, he highlighted the value of such experiences for the players.

“The exposure and experience gained from this trip have significantly broadened the team’s technical and tactical understanding,” he said. “It’s clear that the players have grown both on and off the pitch.”

Agyapong also revealed that four players from the Academy will return to Belgium for short-term training with Club Brugge. This partnership is expected to become an annual event, offering ongoing opportunities for development and exchange.

Belgian football officials and coaches were impressed by the potential they saw in the Ghanaian players. They expressed a strong interest in nurturing these talents and helping them reach their full potential. This mutual respect and collaboration have laid the foundation for future partnerships between Kenpong Football Academy and European clubs.

During the tour, renowned coach J.E. Sarpong and Eric Asante from KV Mechelen played key roles in delivering high-quality training sessions. Their expertise helped refine the players’ skills and prepare them for the challenges of international competition.

Coach Sarpong described the tour as a resounding success, emphasizing how it exposed the players to world-class standards and rigorous training methods. He noted that the experience would have a lasting impact on their development and future careers.

Looking ahead, Kenpong Football Academy is already planning another international expedition. The next destination is Spain, with plans to travel there in December 2025 or early January 2026. Agyapong confirmed that arrangements are well underway, indicating the Academy’s commitment to expanding its global footprint.

Beyond football, the Academy takes a holistic approach to player development. It emphasizes discipline, leadership, and academic excellence alongside athletic training. This balanced focus ensures that students grow into well-rounded individuals prepared for success in all areas of life.

With access to top-tier coaching, modern facilities, and a clear vision for the future, Kenpong Football Academy continues to be a beacon of hope for young Ghanaian athletes. It provides a platform where talent can be discovered, nurtured, and ultimately transformed into greatness.
